Highway 50 - Larry and James' lego blog

Hi readers.  Larry and James here.  We're Lego Minifigures, belonging to Thomas and Curtis.  Just to be clear, James is the one with the red fireman's helmet.

We're grateful to Mark and Colin for bringing us along on this trip and for allowing us to write today's blog.  As well as presenting lots of pictures of us with blurry backgrounds, we'll try and fill in some gaps from the trip so far...

We loved the flight over with Air France.  We were on the enormous Airbus 380.  It was awesome.

When we arrived in Washington DC, the first thing we did was go and visit the White House.  Imagine our surprise when Marine 1 flew over our heads and landed on the lawn of the White House, carrying the President of the USA!  Awesome!

We went to the Tombs bar and had a gratuitous picture on the steps made famous in the film of The Exorcist.

We checked out the Smithsonian museums in DC too.  Look at some of the awesome things we found...  The actual ruby slippers from The Wizard Of Oz, Miss Piggy, the Wright brothers' plane that was the first flying machine!  Awesome...

We even went on Skylab!!!

We also went to the Irish Overpriced Pub in DC.  We ordered a pint of Sam Adams.  8 dollars please, said the barman... AWESOME!!!

Since then, we've had all sorts of adventures, crossing mountain ranges, crossing the Great Plains, visitng major cities like Cincinatti and St Louis, as well as Kansas City, crossing the Rockies in Colorado, crossing the wondrous landscape of Utah, and finally taking on the Loneliest Highway across Nevada.

We have breakfasted on the finest milk and pancakes.

We have drunk the finest beers.

We have had a bit of a fight after drinking the finest beers.

We've met Goblins...

We have blown our hat and wig off tasting the hot sauce.

We even visited the town of Ruth, in the middle of the Nevade wilderness, on which Stephen King based his novel 'Desperation'.

And we wouldn't change a second of it.

When we get home, we will rejoin the box of lego. We may swap our heads, and even our legs.  But we will always be the two lego men that crossed America on Highway 50.

And that really is awesome.

Finally, here's a few scenes from today, at Cave Lake in Nevada and Eureka, which is a former gold mining town in splendid isolation.

Tomorrow, we hope to complete the Loneliest highway section and enter our 12th and final state - California.  If all goes to plan, we shall be beside Lake Tahoe tomorrow.  Only 3 more days of driving, but many adventures still await.

Bring on the bears!

See you in California. :0)
